Priest With Highlights?

Since when has it been a thing for priests to carry highlights? Not that it's forbidden or anything but it's just weird, and in a way, a bit inappropriate for priests to get highlights.

The priest who led the Sunday mass I attended earlier today was wearing one and I can't help myself but stare at him for having that. It's nothing close to vulgar to tell you honestly, it's actually one of the subtlest highlights I've seen and actually quite nice but it just happened to exist on the head of a person whom I expected it the least, a priest. Don't they have to be simple and live a simple life? Isn't it part of their vows?

If I'm not mistaken, they have three vows right? Purity, chastity and poverty. Or was it chastity, poverty and obedience? Anyway, the point is, they have a vow of poverty and having highlights practically screams "I'm soooo above the poverty line".

Waiting for You

It hurts to love you.
I become anguished over the fact that you've been out there all my life and I never knew you.
and... and anything could have happened to you before I even got the chance!

AI8 Puerto Rico Auditions

Before I start a series of posts on the new American Idol Season, I'll just post this one. New York and San Juan, Puerto Rico is the last stop before Hollywood Week. Yipeee. I'm so excited. It was the first time for American Idol to cast auditions on a foreign country (or so I think) and that place is just oozing with talent starting with Jorge Nuñez who sang his first song "My Way" in his native language. That was the first time I actually appreciated that song after hearing it numerous times in videoke bars. His second song was "What a Wonderful World" and was just as good. He received four solid yes votes.

Jesus Christ is Now Following Me on Twitter

Last night when I checked my email, I was surprised to receive this message. It made me laugh a little. Haha. No seriously, it's like God is power tripping me. Haha. I don't know if it's just me but it reminds me of the people down the LRT-Vito Cruz station giving away stickers of "Jesus Saves" harassing passersby to donate something. But then again (this is the religious me talking), it reminds me of my Christian duties.

How long has it been since I last went to church? New year's eve? I was at church last Sunday but I didn't exactly go there to be there, I was waiting for someone so it doesn't count.

Here is the rest of the message.

Man Kills Wife, 5ive Kids and Himself After Getting Fired

A man, Ervin Lupoe fatally shot his wife, Ana Lupoe and their five young children before taking his own life Tuesday, claiming in a note he faxed to a TV station that the couple lost their jobs at a hospital and together planned the killings as an escape for the whole family.

OMG, what are they thinking? It's sick.

But then again, who am I to judge right? I don't know the intensity of the situation. Regardless, it's still sick to kill your family to end their/your misery.

Here's the note Ervin Lupoe sent to KABC-TV.

Cadbury Eyebrows

Ouch. My eyebrows hurt.

Trying this out for myself probably wasn't the best idea.

These kids are really talented.

The Tracy Isabel Borres Blog (and her response)

These are the actual Facebook screenshots of the infamous "Tracy Borres Notes" (or blog) going around the net for a month now. It became so popular these past few days (at least in my world) that I simply had to blog about it (for record keeping purposes)(I like to keep records of things). Its popularity increased because of all the provoking statements she had concerning (or lack thereof) the Aetas during her immersion affecting readers, readers who care in particular (not everyone pays any attention to any of these things. people like her).

Who is Tracy Isabel Borres? She's a 4th year AB Psychology student from Ateneo de Manila University. That's all I know. Hey, I'm not a stalker, though I do have some stalking tendencies. You may see more of her here.

The first picture is a link to her Facebook profile. The image sequence goes from top, left to right, to bottom, left to right.

Photos (except the first) courtesy of ocknarf with some photoshop work to make it more organized.

If you don't like reading one image after the other, you may read through the scrollbox below. Enjoy! (or not).

Now for my thoughts...

Wala ehh. Wala na akong masabi. Blog niya yan ehh. Pakialam ko ba sa blog niya. (but in all seriousness, sobrang naiinis ako dito) Kung gusto ko mag-rant, gagawa rin ako ng sarili kong blog with all my complaints in it. At mag-re-react ang buong mundo because of all the insensitivity and rude choice of words. Pero wala pa akong topic. And besides, since sa Facebook yan pinublish, malamang 'for her friends only' lang yan. Friends who would understand her no matter how harsh or insesnsitive her words may be.

Parang yung "The Talented Mr. Montano" na scandal. Ano ba!!! Bat ba pinapatulan pa? Isn't it obvious enough that she's a brat? (that was harsh) She was raised differently. And duhh! Like as if hindi kayo nagkukwento to your friends about the most horrible things that happened during an unusual experience.

For example (example lang ha, wag magulo): You and your family visited your relatives in the province and they aren't the most well off people in your clan. Then you came back and told your friends.

Friend 1: Bakasyonista: Friend 2: Bakasyonista: Friend 1: Bakasyonista: All: Friend 2: Friend 1: All: Bakasyonista: Friend 2:

Dude, san ka galing bat ang tagal mo nawala?

Nahh, I just went with the rents to visit our relatives.

Talaga? How was it?

Horrible pare! They like live in a death trap pare.

Whoahhh!! Really?

I swear pare. Their house is like a dump. I couldn't even believe myself for surviving a week there. Can you imagine? Meron pa rin silang out house and it's really disgusting. Parang, helloo? Nasan sila nang nagpalit ang milenyo?...(and so on)...

(laughing out loud)

Dude, that was the funniest thing. Hahaha.

Yeah, sobra. Pero don't you remember, you also had that kind of experience sa...

All: (laughing out loud)

Yeah, I remember that I swear pare sobrang down right hilarious non.

Arrgghh!! Pinaalala niyo na naman! I hate you guys!

and so on...

My creative juices aren't flowing right now. I wasn't born to be a creative writer anyway but you get the point. People do that all the time (the panglalait part) and they don't even notice. People make fun of other people's misfortune but they don't do it in public. It's a way of life. A bad way I know but it's inevitable. When you're fully stressed out, everything around you is ugly, everything is miserable, take my "Tanginang Morning" blog for example, I'm the center of the universe, everyone else is crap.

All of these written, I just wanna say na hindi ko siya ipinagtatanggol. What she did was wrong, but people who react so badly aren't any better. If any, they're just being pathetic as always.

After all of the buzz around the net regarding her note, she wrote a response to a guy named Mike Abundo, a blogger who started it all (I think? He has all the information about her). This is her response.

so there

Did she have a point?
YES.
Do I believe her?
NO.
Why?
I have trust issues. What's it to you

Now it's your turn.

  • you are insane or incompetent as declared by competent authority unless subsequently declared by proper authority that such person is no longer insane or incompetent.
What should you bring?

You should present original and photocopy of any of the following current identification documents which bears your current address, photograph and signature:
  1. Employee’s identification card (ID) with the signature of the employer or authorized representative;
  2. Postal ID;
  3. Student’s ID or library card, signed by the school authority;
  4. Senior Citizen’s ID;
  5. Driver’s license;
  6. NBI/PNP clearance;
  7. Passport;
  8. SSS/GSIS ID;
  9. Integrated Bar of the Philippine (IBP) ID;
  10. License issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC); and
  11. Any other valid ID.
I personally prefer the NBI Clearance (this is what I used) because it already states your current address, no more questions, instant verification. Totally hassle free. If in case the document you presented bears no place of current residence, you shall present a copy of proof of billing i.e. Meralco, Maynilad etc. Community Tax Certificates (cedula) or certifications/identification cards issued by barangay officials shall not be honored as valid identification documents.

If you don't have any of these identification documents, you may be identified under oath by any registered voter of the precinct, or by any of your relatives within the fourth civil degree of consanguinity or affinity who are registered voters of the same city/municipality. (Momma I need you! haha). If you can't be identified by any of these means, then you shall not be given the application form or in case of downloaded forms, the form will not be accepted.

What should you expect during application?
(this is based on my experience a week ago, 05 January 2009)

Expect long lines (specially if you come in late like me, duhh). That's what you get for not coming early. Anyway, The application has four steps: Verification, Interview, Biometrics and Schedule.

STEP ONE
For verification, you shall present your documents to the officer, he/she will ask you some questions and then he/she'll put a stamp on it. Wait for your name to be called and voila you have your application form with a date on it when you shall return for the next step (this depends on the district I think). Being a non-obedient citizen, I proceeded to the next step right away.

STEP TWO
Longer lines (at least in District 2 of Quezon City). For the interview, you shall present your accomplished application form together with the verified identification to the officer, he/she will ask you some questions, check for missing information, have you sign the forms and he/she will sign on it and take it You then shall wait for your name to be called (again).

The return date didn't really matter. I think they're just doing it for crowd control. The later you come, the longer the lines.

STEP THREE
Biometrics. They'll transfer all the information from the submitted forms to the computer, take your electronic thumbmark and forefingermark 3 or 4 times (I lost count after the second), take your electronic signature (like in the DLSU ID, where you sign on a flat black surface where you can't see what you're doing making it difficult to make your signature look normal) and finally take a picture of you.

Now for the messy part, thumbmarks with ink.

STEP FOUR
I don't know what this is for and why they called it schedule when there's only one day to vote, but they'll just give you the application stub stating your name, application number and precinct number. It's like this rectangular piece of paper they give you detached from your submitted application form.

AND YOU'RE DONE! YOU ARE A REGISTERED VOTER!!!
It's that simple.

It'll take you probably 3-5 hours to finish everything. I started at 9:30 a.m. and finished everything by 2:30 p.m. with a 12-to-1 lunch break.

One final reminder: DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!!

What is up with PDEA and Lasalle?

What is up with PDEA and Lasalle? I know they're just doing their job and I have nothing against it but just because that So Yu guy has been caught in a buy-bust operation suddenly the school is a prime target? More scandals like these and it will be known no longer for its excellence but rather the controversies that goes with it.

And why on earth does ABS-CBN show videos of PDEA doing investigation inside the campus? Lasalle lang ba may drug users? Helloooo!!! Ang dami kayang users at pushers from other schools and yet it's no big deal. But once that ls name get involved with any crime or scandal, napakalaking balita.

Just because they own no big names doesn't mean they don't matter. They too have the right to be humiliated...

...But then again no one would care.

When a thing ceases to be a subject of controversy, it ceases to be a subject of interest.
