A skateboarding tour at 28th Street cor. Rizal Road, Bonifacio Global City featuring Volcom skaters Brandon Westgate, David Gravette, Chima Ferguson and Chris Pfanner.
After shopping and eating lunch at the World Trade Center, Angel, Sandy and I decided to go to Makati. At first, Angel wanted to see the Twilight OST Launch Party at the G3 Tent where Urbandub and two other bands I'm not familiar with would perform, but after seeing that no one was coming (at first, I think?) by 3++pm we decided to go to Andrea's event near High Street.
The Volcom Balut Salute Skateboard Tour 2008. We took a cab to Bonifacio Global City and found the event without so much trouble. We were late. Wow, the place was packed with people. Skaters from all walks of life (I think? Caucassians, Asians, locals, other crowds) and skateboarding enthusiasts came and there were media people, event organizers, bouncers and many more. The main area of the event was barricaded leaving the rest of the audience outside.
This was my first time to see a skateboarding event. Seeing Grind and Extreme Days on video, I have always wondered what it was like. Thoug I'm not a big fan of skateboarding, I've always wanted to skate and surf. Man, the event was full of action. At least for the skaters. They skated, they jumped, twisted, they slipped and fell, among other things. Some managed to regain balance and control, others made it all the way down, others were successful in doing their routine, others were just miserable. Me, I was just enjoying the show.
We were just so hungry after seeing all of it and we had to leave for a while because we just can't sit there and wait for the free food. We were just starving, or at least I was. I wasn't even talking to conserve my remaining energy. I was THAT hungry.
When we came back, we found out they gave away another round of freebies. We missed it. Oh well, I was just tired.
